about

our story

Revitate represents the latest notable venture in the multigenerational story of the Bhathal family in business.

RAJ Capital (the Bhathal Family Investment Office founded and led by brother-sister duo Alex Bhathal and Lisa Bhathal Merage), launched Revitate to scale its successes in real estate, consumer products, and sports-related ventures.

The first investment by RAJ Capital was the acquisition, alongside Swander Pace Capital and Goldman Sachs, of the family business RAJ Swim that was founded in 1967 by Alex and Lisa’s parents Marta and Raj Bhathal. Since 2007, Alex and Lisa have been active investors through RAJ Capital, making direct and indirect investments in consumer products, sports, and real estate companies.

In evaluating opportunities, Alex and Lisa developed a passion for backing business-builders with the vision, talent, and drive to achieve transformational economic and social impact.

In 2013, The Bhathal family acquired the Sacramento Kings NBA franchise as principal co-owners in an investment group led by Vivek Ranadive. Raj Bhathal was appointed Vice Chairman and Alternate Governor for the team, and Alex became Executive Board Member. In subsequent years, the Kings spearheaded the transformation of downtown Sacramento through the development of the award-winning Golden 1 Center, Sawyer Hotel, and Downtown Commons retail and entertainment district. In total, these projects comprised over $1 billion in development of six city blocks and catalyzed over $1.4 billion in additional development within a mile of the district.

Inspired by the successful transformation of downtown Sacramento, Alex and Lisa joined with Cress Capital in 2018 to launch RevOZ Capital, a new real estate investment platform focused around the newly-passed federal Opportunity Zone (OZ) tax incentive. RevOZ has grown from early adopter to market leader, earning national recognition for its commitment to social impact and work to channel new capital and opportunity to low-income communities across the country.

As a platform to leverage RAJ Capital’s expertise in consumer brands, Alex joined Rx3 Growth Partners in 2018 in the role of Investment Partner. Pro athlete Aaron Rodgers founded Rx3 alongside seasoned investors Nate Raabe and Byron Roth on the idea that new and greater forces are unlocked when the world of influence and capital collide.

Rooted in the legacy of the RAJ Capital family investment office, Revitate is adding new talent and capabilities to power the transition from a single family office to a scalable, diversified investment management platform.

In 2021, Revitate launched its first joint venture with Chris Marsh and the Cherry Tree Capital Partners team to invest in multifamily value-add and workforce housing real estate opportunities in the Sunbelt and Midwestern regions.
