Great news out of San Diego this week, as the San Diego City Council voted unanimously to advance Revitate’s Midway Village+ development proposal as one of three finalists to redevelop the 48.5 acre Sports Arena site in downtown San Diego.
Revitate is Co-Master Developer for Midway Village+, alongside Toll Brothers, BRIDGE Housing, and MAAC. The project calls for the redevelopment of the existing site with new residential, office, hotel, retail, entertainment, and parking programming, anchored by a new state of the art arena, events, center, and significant affordable and attainable housing.

San Diego City Council voiced interest in several aspects of the project, with a specific emphasis on generating more housing opportunities for low and moderate income families.
Midway Village+ is particularly committed to achieving this goal, focusing particularly on the unmet needs of large families, multigenerational households, and seniors. The current housing plan calls for:

· Dedicated affordable homes for seniors and families

· 116 permanent supportive homes – 33% for transitional-aged youth
· 100 for-sale affordable units via Habitat for Humanity

More broadly, the overall project will deliver:
· 4,200 new housing units, including 1,610 new affordable homes
· 15,000 capacity new arena and 3,500 capacity events center
· 450,000 square feet of office and retail
· 250 key hotel
· 12 acre central park
The City of San Diego will now initiate a detailed financial and operational feasibility analysis of the three finalists. A final decision is expected by the end of the year.
